NOTICE:   Read through the instructions carefully before attempting the tax change process. If you do not feel comfortable or do not understand the instructions completely, do not proceed without assistance. Our examples are filled with rates such as 8.25 or 9.25 %. Because each county has a different rate, make sure you enter the correct rates for your county by changing 8.25 (listed as 82500, 825, etc. in the instructions) to 8.75 if you are required to collect 8.75%.

Test each cash register/point-of-sale terminal by ringing transactions of varying amounts and verifying that the calculated tax rates match government requirements.

The new rates on wine, and spirits are wholesale rate increases and should be increased in the price of the product.
r selling Groceries:
For retailers who will be selling groceries, a new tax table (Tax2) must be created. Products requiring a tax rate increase include tobacco, beer, candy, dietary supplements, and prepared foods. These items no longer follow that food stamp definition of food. Groceries remain at the old tax rate with the exception of some that are now taxed at a higher rate. Specific items that were designated by the Tennessee department of Revenue must be linked to a new department that applies the tax 2 rate. Each department must be linked to the appropriate tax rate (1 or 2) based on the tax that should apply to items in that department. Each item must be classified based on tax rate 1, tax rate 2, and food stampable status.

Please select the appropriate system type and model to get the appropriate instructions for the make and model of cash register system needed.
